Your needlework project stitched with The Gentle Art Six Strand, Hand Overdyed Cotton Floss Sampler Threads will never be a carbon copy of everyone else's because each skein is unique in itself. They are subtly shaded, each skein containing many colors blended with care to provide incredible, visual richness with looks to the heritage of the past and beautifully passes that along to the future through an aged palette inspired by our natural world. This vision is the hallmark of The Gentle Art's vision and reputation.
Threads from The Gentle Art are exciting and fun to stitch with and give your needlework a faded, antiqued look. Each batch of thread is hand overdyed to ensure that is treated with care. Dyes and catalyst agents, which are highly efficient and extremely gentle are chosen to maintain its durability. The Gentle Art craftsmen work diligently to produce a product that is consistent, colorfast and has heirloom quality longevity.
You will find The Gentle Art Sampler Threads have a broader range of color variegation with more dark & light differences; while the Simply Shaker can also contain variegation, overall they have a medium color range with more subtle, muted tones and shading.
Care Instructions:
If you wash overdyed threads AFTER stitching, you run the risk of having them bleed. The Gentle Art Sampler Threads and Simply Shakers are colorfast, meaning they will not change color when washed, will not fade if kept out of direct sunlight, etc. They may bleed, however, because when a large amount of threads is dyed by hand, it may be difficult to rinse off all the dye that is lying on the surface of the threads. It is safe to rinse Sampler Threads and Simply Shakers in tepid water BEFORE stitching. Blot them on a white paper or terrycloth towel to see if they will bleed. You may repeat this process several times until they rinse clean. Again, the color will not fade. Let the threads dry (it won't take long) and then stitch. After the piece is finished, you may wash it in tepid water with a mild soap. DO NOT USE WOOILTE!
